Διεθνές συνέδριο για την σπογγαλιεία στην Ύδρα, το Σάββατο και την Κυριακή 19-20 ΜαΪου 2018, μια ιστορική, πολιτιστική, πολιτική και κοινωνική ανάλυση της εποχής της σπογγαλιείας. 

Επίσης το Σάββατο 19 Μαΐου 2018, με αφορμή το συνέδριο πρόκειται να παίξει και να τραγουδήσει συγκρότημα με ρεμπέτικη μουσική και τραγούδια.

 School of Oriental and African Studies [SOAS], University of London.

SUMMARY:

A stand-alone conference of the Interdisciplinary Animal Studies Initiative,

School of Oriental and African Studies [SOAS, University of London] 

This conference is conceived as an interdisciplinary event, in line with other cross-disciplinary

conferences that we have organised at or from SOAS. Our concern is to present contributions

 from a variety of thematic, disciplinary, geographical and historical areas. Papers have been

invited that address the following topics:

   - The anthropology of sponge fishing communities

   - Sponge environments – damage, restoration and conservation

   - Economics and potentials of the sponge market, past, present and future

   - Documentation and categorization of sponge species...
