A Theatre for Dreamers, a spellbinding novel by Polly Samson
Από: Leonard Cohen A
Theatre for Dreamers, a spellbinding novel by Polly Samson, which debuted in
the UK on the Sunday Times Bestseller List at Number 2, comes to the US
(Algonquin) and Canada (Harper Collins) today. The
literary fiction novel takes the reader to the Greek island of Hydra in 1960
where a circle of poets, painters and musicians live tangled lives, ruled by
the writers Charmian Clift and George Johnston. Forming within this circle is a
triangle: its points the magnetic, destructive writer Axel Jensen, his dazzling
wife Marianne Ihlen, and a young Canadian poet named Leonard Cohen. Watching at
the periphery of this circle is teenager Erica, who witnesses paradise unravel. Polly
Samson is a writer of fiction and a lyricist whose words have appeared on four
number one albums including Pink Floyd’s The Division Bell and her husband
David Gilmour’s On An Island. The
audio version of A Theatre for Dreamers is narrated by Polly Samson and was
produced by David Gilmour, who also provided score music. Read
