Hydra Mayor George Koukoudakis highlights Hydra’s role in 1821, ahead of the 2021 bicentenary of Greek Independence

I am a registered voter in Hydra, though I cannot vote absentee. This is not an endorsement (or lack thereof) of the mayor or any candidate in a political sense, but I do think that Hydra has shown an exceptional amount of initiative in honoring her role in the struggle that began 200 years ago, in contrast to the poor performance of Greece's central government or the vast majority of appendages in the Diaspora claiming to represent Diaspora Greeks. For my part, as an individual and as a director of EMBCA, I tried to do my part to honor this seminal event in world history. I am confident that in the coming year EMBCA will honor the milestones coming and those which are soon fading into the previous year.
